With apologies to Kevin Henkes, author of Kitten's First Full Moon. Have y'all gotten this one yet?
I've not heard of Kitten's First Full Moon. Is it about a toddler who tries to ride his five-pound kitty?
No, it's not, actually. That would be a hilarious book, if it's not already out there (must research and see). But KFM is about a kitten that goes chasing the full moon because she thinks it's a full bowl of milk, and gets frustrated because she keeps getting thwarted. Every time she finds out how wrong she is about the moon/not milk, the line is "poor kitten!" It's really adorable, actually.
And not too schmoopy for a Little Boy who likes kitties.
Hmmm...it's not like he needs another Cubby Bears cap...
